Of course we all love cupcakes but how many of us can manage to eat close to a dozen cupcakes in a row? That’s why we needed to bring in special guest judges to handle the tasting portion of the contests held at Cupcake Camp Montreal.
We’d like to give a huge thank you bear hug to the awesome judges who devoured over 40 cupcakes submitted to the contest.
Bob Le Chef, The Anarchist Chef and Author
Herman Alves, Chair of Table of Hope / Table d’espoir
Katerine Rollet, Tourism Montreal
Lesley Chesterman, Montreal Gazette
Ricardo Larrivée, Ricardo Cuisine
Rob Kemp, CHOM FM
Todd van der Heyden, CTV
Also, thank you to CBC Weatherman Frank Cavallaro for being a great MC throughout the day.

Bob Le Chef, jumped right on board with Cupcake Camp to be the official judge of the FailCake contest. He polished off the savory cupcake made of a blend of wheat, smoked meat, cheese curds, bagels and cream cheese. Stay tuned for Bob Le Chef’s upcoming episode about Cupcake Camp Montreal.
Herman Alves who owns Bitoque restaurant where the event took place has been more than generous to our event, lending us his restaurant, supplies, donated cupcakes and helped us judge the best cupcakes of the day. Huge thank you to Herman.
Katerine Rollet was very enthusiastic throughout the day about all the yummy cupcakes she got to munch on. You can learn about her favorite Montreal foods at Tourism Montreal.
Lesley Chesterman has been adored over the last decade as a fine-dining food critic for the Montreal Gazette so we were thrilled to have her expert opinion on our cupcakes. Read her blog to find out where you should eat next.
Ricardo Larrivée’s infectious smile made our day even brighter. This Food Network Canada host had a great time at Cupcake Camp and is already talking about next year!
Todd van der Heyden, CTV Montreal News anchor was a champ. You could tell he doesn’t eat junk food and he ate a lot of cupcakes! We appreciate him making the sacrifice.
Rob Kemp, host of the Rob Kemp Show on CHOM 97.7FM was gracious enough to spend his birthday with us on the day of Cupcake Camp. Check his video about his experience at Cupcake Camp.
Thank you Judges!
